CCO Campus Ministry

CCO Area Directors

exceutivepixtemplate_robinson.jpgBob Robinson serves the CCO as Area Director for Northern Ohio. He supervises and mentors about 20 campus workers placed strategically on university and college campuses. He is also an integral part of the CCO’s team that trains campus ministry staff in innovative ways to reach a new generation for Christ.

Born and raised in Akron, Ohio, Bob received his bachelor’s degree from The University of Akron in Business Administration in 1987. He immediately experienced success with a Fortune 100 corporation, but he struggled to find meaning and purpose in life. He began attending The Chapel in Akron, Ohio, and became a follower of Jesus Christ. Just a few months later, he felt that God was calling him to the vocational ministry. In 1996, after five years of seminary training, he received the Master of Divinity degree with honors from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.

As Pastor of Adult Ministries at a large church in Canton, Ohio, Bob proved to be an innovative leader as he developed a multi-faceted adult ministry through teaching, preaching, casting vision, developing programs, recruiting and training leaders, and writing curriculum. He initiated evangelism efforts, trained adult leaders, doubled small group participation, and initiated many adult learning experiences, including a young adult ministry.

Bob then planted a church with the Allegheny District of the Evangelical Free Church of America. Starting in his family room, 20 people met and then grew as they moved to a large conference room in a local doctor’s office. In the next two years, they grew to nearly 70 people. Bob preached every Sunday, led innovative servant-outreach projects, and initiated community-growth programs. As the church developed, Bob’s vision of ministry began to shift from “ministry as we have always done it” to “ministry for those who do not know Christ in the postmodern culture of the 21st Century,” as God was moving his heart toward the generation coming after him.

In the summer of 2005, Bob began the next part of his spiritual journey of serving the Lord, as he became the Area Director for Northern Ohio for the CCO.

“My goal is to develop pioneering ministries at the colleges and universities in northern Ohio,” Bob says. “There are over 200,000 college students in northern Ohio that need to experience the transforming power of the gospel of Christ’s kingdom. My job is to create new partnerships with churches, schools, and other organizations so that the CCO’s ministry can effectively change the lives of these students.”

Bob and his wife, Linda, live in Canton, Ohio, where they are raising three wonderful children, Trey, Joel, and Kaira. Among his interests include sports, music, reading, writing, blogging, playing with his kids, and mountain climbing and hiking with his wife, as well as making friends over a good cup of coffee at one of the local coffee shops.
