CCO Area Directors
Charity Haubrich serves the CCO as Area Director of North Central Pennsylvania & South Central New York, supervising staff and developing partnerships at churches and campuses in her area.
Charity was involved in the CCO’s campus ministry as a student at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. “During my time there, I was mentored by CCO staff Jay and Ann Flagg, Dawn Buckley and Jeff Lathrop,” she says, “and they were all integral in shaping my spiritual development. I directed a drama ministry team, was president of the student fellowship and coordinated small group Bible studies. I was also very involved in First Baptist Church, where the congregation was very supportive of college students.”
Charity first joined CCO staff in 1997, and she ministered to students at Penn State Altoona until 2003, when she transitioned into her current role as Area Director.
“I chose to work for the CCO because, as much as I loved teaching, I was limited to four walls,” Charity says of her intention to teach school. “Somewhere along the road, I realized that campus ministry provided the opportunity for the world to be my classroom. The relationships I could develop with students and the ability to challenge them to live out their faith in all areas of their life was and continues to be exciting to me. I loved the idea that I would be able to help students connect their faith to their lifestyle in their communities, their churches, their relationships and their occupation. Having been on staff for 10 years now, I have been able to see the fruit of Christ’s transforming power at work in the lives of students as they transform the world.”
Charity continues to live in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and she worships at Westminster Presbyterian Church where she serves on the Women’s Fellowship Committee. She also serves as a member of the Altoona Collegiate Outreach, which enables CCO staff to continue in ministry to students at Penn State Altoona.
