CCO staff minister to students at Messiah College in two primary areas: Issachar’s Loft and the Agapé Center. Wendell Witter is Director of Issachar’s Loft, and serving in the Agapé Center are Matt Hunter, National and International Service and Mission Director, and Becky Owen, the Local Community Service Director. Brandon Hoover works at Messiah as the S.A.L.T. House Coordinator, and Jeremy Stoltzfus serves as the Outdoor Leadership Team Resource for South Central Pennsylvania. Chad Frey, Alec and Alece Nauck-Heisey and Dave Tanis all reach out to students in a volunteer capacity as CCO associate staff members.
Issachar’s Loft is responsible for advancing the mission of Messiah College and the CCO through fostering leadership, discipleship, wilderness and educational programing that are conducive to academic success, spiritual formation, and social engagement. This is done through Bible studies, group facilitations, wilderness trips, development of student leaders, and a weekly fellowship called “Who’s Zoomin’ Who?”
The Agapé Center for Service and Learning develops, administers, resources, and coordinates programs of service-learning, community service, and mission, contributing to the mission of Messiah College to “educate men and women toward maturity of intellect, character, and Christian faith in preparation for lives of service, leadership, and reconciliation in church and society.” Students, faculty, and staff work with community-based partners in local, national, and international settings to address community needs, to provide holistic learning opportunities for students, and encourage students toward an ethic of discipleship, service, and civic engagement.
